Statement on London G-20 Deal from the STOP AID TO AFRICA MOVEMENT

It is with utter dismay and disappointment that we the STOP AID MOVEMENT observe the results of the G20 summit in London today.

While the Rich nations agreed to open up new trade horizons for themselves as echoed by the sentiments of the British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, they continue to insist on an AID model for the poorest countries majority of which are in Africa.

This refusal to open up and free up Barriers of Trade for the worlds poorest country will ensure that those countries continue to wallow in debt and extreme poverty and that they consequently continue to be dependent on Foreign AID which has proved to be over the past 50 years to have done more harm than good.

We the worlds poorest were hoping to have more commitments from Europe and the United States to open up their economies to Quality African Products and to end the unfair practice of subsiding their own farmers and goods under the principle of FREE MARKETS.

It is with deep regret that we conclude that this is a sad day for third world countries, which will in addition to dealing with the negative financial implications of the collapse of their own financial markets, will  also be faced with higher debts and the lurking possibility of more ethnic strife caused by the diversion of AID into the pockets of rogue and corrupt leaders.

We urge the free press to stand in solidarity with us by allowing us to express our outrage.
